About Kelly

Like you, I inhabit many roles, and I am the product of many systems. I am a mother, partner, daughter, sister, aunt, immigrant, and volunteer. I have been shaped by family, culture, class, education, geography, and friendships. We are all beautifully complex beings, and any treatment approach must take into consideration these complexities.
My treatment philosophy is grounded in evidence-based practice and patient-centered care. I believe in using the gentlest interventions that will achieve your specific goals. I believe in holistic care and collaboration with primary care providers, therapists, and community partners.
I believe everyone has the capacity to grow and succeed. I believe in forging a partnership with clients: meeting you where you are, listening to your perspective, answering your questions, and respecting your choices. I promise you empathy, encouragement, directness, and dedication.
I have lived in Portland most of my life, and I love it here. I especially enjoy the coast, hiking trails, local restaurants, arts and cultural events, and all the fascinating people who call this place home.

What is a PMHNP?

A psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner is a nationally board-certified and state-licensed advanced practice registered nurse who can diagnose mental health disorders and treat them with medication and counseling. In Oregon, PMHNPs practice independently and are overseen by the Oregon State Board of Nursing. Unlike psychiatrist, they have Masters or Doctorate degrees from a nursing school rather than a medical school. As nurses, PMHNPs are trained to consider the many factors that can contribute to mental wellness, including physical health, lifestyle choices, family, finances, work, relationships, trauma history, culture, spirituality, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and more. Our work is a great complement to psychotherapy, and clients are strongly encouraged to create or continue a lasting relationship with a therapist.
